The project our group worked on was called "Sonic Scenery". We discussed how music and sounds, spark emotions, memories, and ultimately-- feelings. We visited the Natural History Museum with the sole purpose of HEARING the exhibits. We did this by finding sounds for objects and places like: The Forest, A Crystal Mine, and other habitats, and animals. With that in mind, we began making sounds inspired by the exhibits.

We made instruments like a flute made out of plumbing tubes and balloons, a rattler made from twigs, string, and bottle tops. We also listened to a lot of sounds and talked about what it made us feel or imagine. We all had similar images of the sounds.

When it came down to recording we volunteered to play the instrument we liked the most. There were pots and pans, buckets, and cigar box guitars which were arranged on the computer to form our music piece. The workshop was fun and it showed us that instruments and sounds could be made anywhere and with anything.
